Board Member & Head U10/U12 Coach

Jennifer Best is the U10/U12 head coach and Blue Mountain Racing Association board member.    

Jennifer started skiing when she was two years old, and spent almost every winter day at Apple Hill Ski Area in Orefield, PA, where her father was an instructor, and later, ski school director.  When Apple Hill closed in 1978, her family skied for three seasons at Hahn Mountain in Kempton, PA.  Her father joined the ski school staff at Little Gap Ski Area (now Blue Mountain) in 1981, and the family skied there ever since.    

Jennifer soon followed in her father’s footsteps, becoming a ski instructor in the 1982-83 ski season.  In 198X, BMR launched the Mountaineer program, and she began coaching a group of 7 and 8-year-old skiers (including current BMR coaches Danny, Mikey, Megan and Kara).  She started coaching the J-5 (now U10) PARA athletes in the winter of 1996-97.  Her nephew Nevyn is a BMR U16 racer.  

Jennifer grew up in the Lehigh Valley, PA, and moved to Philadelphia to attend Temple University.  She lives in Queen Village with her cats Rollins and Redford, and works as community affairs director at a Philadelphia television station to pay for her ski habit.  Besides Blue Mountain, her favorite ski area is Snowbird in Utah, where she visits for two weeks every March.
